Here we are again, straddling the seasons. One foot is pressed firmly on the summer sideโwith temps still in the high 80s in my neck of the woodsโand the other foot is situated squarely on the side of fall, with kids back in school and riding boots on the covers of catalogs.
I find myself asking the question I always do during this in-between stage: What should I eat?
Well, today I have an answer.
For that wishy-washy day when the heat has you craving something refreshing but the date on the calendar has you yearning for something autumnal, I give you the Healthy Pumpkin Spice Smoothie.

Healthy Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Serves 2
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (canned or fresh)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup milk (any kind)
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup ice
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients together until smooth. If desired, sprinkle some additional pumpkin pie spice on top. Enjoy!

Ooo, I have most of those ingredients on hand. I’ll just have to substitute cinnamon for the pumpkin pie spice and give it a whirl!
I’m sure that would work out just fine! Do you also have some nutmeg and/or cloves? Add a pinch of those too!
When we lived in WI, Labor Day weekend really felt like the start of fall. In FL, not so much. As glad as I am not to have to go through a cold, snowy winter, it’s going to be tough to get used to not having “fall” weather until December.
That would feel very odd to me as well, but come January or February I’d be loving it!
Girl, you KNOW pumpkin is everything to me. I’ve already been enjoying pumpkin baked goods, pumpkin lattes, and pumpkin coffee. It may be hot out but pumpkin is a year round thing for me! I MUST make this soon.

This looks so yummy! I cook with pumpkin (muffins, oatmeal, etc) all year round, but I agree it’s still way too hot outside for pumpkin coffee.
Yes! I totally love pumpkin spice in everything. And really only in the fall. Year round, less so.
Although I got a pumpkin spice latte in February this year and it was kinda nice!

Ah! I’m so excited to see this! I am a super-crazed pumpkin fan. I broke out my pumpkin candles in hopes it will feel more like fall– even though it’s still I’m the 90s outside. Definitely pinning and making this!

I’ve been drooling over this for a few days after seeing it in my BlogLovin’ feed, and I finally got here to check it out. YUM. I love pumpkin flavored stuff, but the syrups in coffee drinks are full of sugar. This is healthy – yay!
